Please be advised that the Lafayette Parish Assessor’s office has a new computer system and the assessment numbers have been changed to accommodate their system.

The new assessment numbers will always have seven (7) digits. The first digit designates whether it is real estate (6) or business movable (2). If the old assessment number was five (5) digits, a zero will be placed as the second digit. For example on real estate, the numbers will have a preceding 6 or 60 (was 12345 is now 6012345) (was 123456 is now 6123456). The same rule applies to business movables however the preceding number(s) are 2 or 20.
